What is Phoenix Oolong Tea

Phoenix oolong Tea is produced at the mountain called Phoenix Mountain, Chao-zhou, Guangdong province . The mountain consisting of a number of peaks resembles the legendary phoenix in shape, so comes the name, Phoenix Mountain. The Phoenix Oolong is also called Feng Huang Oolong. Feng Huang means phoenix in Chinese. In fact, many people call it as Dan Cong Tea.

The Cultivar of Phoenix Oolong Tea

Phoenix Oolong Tea is made of the same tea cultivar as Wu-yi tea, it is also Rock Tea as Wu-yi Tea and the tea leaf of Phoenix Oolong is plucked from the very old tea trees while it is not as expensive as Wu-yi tea although its quality is outstanding. Phoenix Oolong Tea and Dan Cong Tea

The meaning of Dan Cong is opposite to Garden Tea. In the tea garden, tea is planted in columns and the tea trees are trimmed regularly in order to maintain the desired height, shape and size. As for Dan Cong, it is the tea tree that grows independently and randomly in the wild. It usually grows at the slopes of mountain, just like other native trees.
