White tea is a lightly oxidized tea grown and harvested almost exclusively in China, primarily in the Fujian province. White tea comes from the delicate buds and younger leaves of the Chinese Camellia sinensis plant. These buds and leaves are allowed to wither in natural sunlight before they are lightly processed to prevent oxidation or further fermentation. This preserves the characteristic flavor of the white tea. What makes it so special? Simply put, white tea is the least processed form of tea. Because of its minimal processing, white tea contains more nutrients than its black or green cousins, making it the ultimate health tea.

There have only been a few studies to date about the health benefits of the white tea, but already the evidence is impressive. It has been shown to be more powerful than green tea in preventing cancer and killing germs. Another study suggests that it may contain enough antioxidants to keep your skin young and beautiful. Okay, it is still in the early days, but it does look promising. White tea has a sweet flavor and soft texture without the vegetal quality of green tea.
